PORTIONS OF SOUTHEASTERN VIRGINIA...AS WELL AS EASTERN SECTIONS OF
NORTH CAROLINA AND SOUTH CAROLINA. HIGH WIND WARNINGS ARE
CURRENTLY IN EFFECT ALONG COASTAL SECTIONS OF NORTH CAROLINA AND
SOUTH CAROLINA.
FLOOD WATCHES ARE CURRENTLY IN EFFECT FOR PORTIONS OF COASTAL
NORTH CAROLINA AND SOUTH CAROLINA.
WIND ADVISORIES ARE CURRENTLY IN EFFECT ACROSS PORTIONS OF
NORTHEASTERN FLORIDA...EASTERN GEORGIA...SOUTH CAROLINA...EASTERN
NORTH CAROLINA...AND SOUTHEASTERN VIRGINIA.
A SLOW MOVING AREA OF LOW PRESSURE...CURRENTLY LOCATED ABOUT 150
MILES OFF THE COAST OF SOUTH CAROLINA...IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE
STRENGTHENING THROUGH WEDNESDAY MORNING. AS OF 3 PM EST
TUESDAY...WIND GUSTS UP TO 50 MPH HAVE BEEN OBSERVED OVER EASTERN
SECTIONS OF NORTH CAROLINA. THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE...IN
COMBINATION WITH STRONG HIGH PRESSURE CURRENTLY OVER THE SOUTHERN
PLAINS AND GREAT LAKES REGION...IS EXPECTED TO CAUSE STRONG
ONSHORE WINDS. BEACH EROSION IS LIKELY TO OCCUR WHERE THE
STRONGEST ONSHORE WINDS COMBINE WITH ASTRONOMICAL HIGH TIDES ALONG
COASTAL REGIONS OF THE CAROLINAS.
COLD AIR WRAPPING AROUND THE AREA OF LOW PRESSURE HAS ALLOWED SOME
LIGHT SNOW TO MIX IN WITH THE RAIN OVER PORTIONS OF THE DEEP
SOUTH. WHILE ACCUMULATIONS OVER AN INCH ARE NOT EXPECTED...BOTH
CHARLESTON SOUTH CAROLINA AND SAVANNAH GEORGIA RECORDED A TRACE OF
SNOWFALL TUESDAY MORNING...WHICH ACCORDING TO RECORDS DATING BACK
TO 1930...IS THE EARLIEST WINTER SEASON DATE ON WHICH SNOW HAS
BEEN RECORDED.

RAINFALL TOTALS ARE EXPECTED TO POSSIBLY EXCEED 5 INCHES BY
WEDNESDAY EVENING. LARGE RAINFALL TOTALS ARE EXPECTED TO
EXACERBATE ONGOING FLOODING ACROSS THE SOUTHEAST DUE TO HEAVY
RAINS FROM LAST WEEK.
