...Light to moderate snow continues for the Upper Midwest and
Upper Great Lakes while generally moderate rain is occurring in
the Southeast and Carolinas...
Winter Weather Advisories are in effect for portions of Iowa and
Illinois, as well as northern Maine.
Scattered Flood Warnings and Flood Advisories are ongoing across
the Lower Mississippi Valley, Southeast, and the Mid-Atlantic
region.

At 900 PM EST...A low pressure system with a minimum central
pressure of 1000 mb, or 29.53 inches, was located over
southeastern Ontario. A cold front extended south from this low
across the Lower Great Lakes region, Appalachians, and to the Gulf
Coast. Warm and moist air from the Gulf of Mexico was being drawn
northward ahead of the cold front and was contributing to an area
of generally moderate rain in the Carolinas and Southeast.
Meanwhile, areas of light to moderate snow were scattered
throughout the Upper Midwest to Upper Great Lakes region.

Only light to moderate snow is expected to continue over the Upper
Midwest, with some areas of light freezing drizzle as well.
Bitterly cold wind chills are forecast tonight over the Northern
Plains and Minnesota. Rain and a few thunderstorms will continue
moving east through the Carolinas, while showers and storms linger
over the Southeast and Gulf Coast regions into the weekend.
Additional rainfall amounts of an inch or so are possible in the
Florida panhandle and southern Georgia and South Carolina.
